South Carolina Autism Society

News and Happenings

December 2015

Hello SCAS supporter!

Below is the latest edition of our monthly newsletter.

From The President

Students are heading home from school and college, everyone is finishing their shopping, and 2015 is quickly coming to a close.  I hope that many of you were able to attend one of our Holiday events in the Upstate and Midlands during the past month.  It is amazing to see how these grow each year!

Thank you to the AT&T Pioneers, Grace Church, the YMCA of Greenville, the Signal Cosplay Group, and All Star Gymnastics for your part in helping make these events memorable for our families.

Please take note below of our holiday office closings.

As you are thinking about your end-of-the-year donations, I hope that you will consider the South Carolina Autism Society in your plans.  It is through donations of all sizes from people like you that we can continue to expand our services, and enable all individuals with autism spectrum disorders to reach their maximum potential.

Donations can be made online at scautism.org/donate/, or you can mail checks to our office at 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC  29169.

As always, please contact us if you have questions, need assistance, or would like to get further involved.  Our main number is 803-750-6988, or visit our website at scautism.org.

Wishing you a joyous and peaceful holiday season,

Kim Thomas, President & CEO
South Carolina Autism Society

Most of our events just wouldn't be possible without the involvement of our wonderful volunteers.  The participation of families, business and community groups, and students is a big part of what makes our events successful.  We appreciate all of your efforts!

If you are interested in volunteering with the South Carolina Autism Society, we would love to hear from you!  We have opportunities not only for our events, but also for special projects in our offices.  Please complete our Volunteer Registration Form online at http://scautism.org/get-involved/volunteer/.

Upcoming SC Autism Society Events

High Schooler Hangout: Dinner & Movie

High Schooler Hangout: Dinner & Movie
December 22

6 - 9:30 pm

We will meet at Best China Buffet at 6 pm and/or AMC Theater at 6:45. The featured movie is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The restaurant is just a few doors down from the the theater so we can just walk from one to the other.

Please note if you will come for dinner, the movie, or both.

The cost is $9.50 for dinner and a drink. Students get a discounted rate of $8.70 for movies, but have to bring their student id with them. If they do not bring their id, the cost is $10.28. So $20 will be sufficient unless they want to buy snacks at the movie, then they should bring more money.

The max number for participation is 8 students and we will have 2 chaperones. For more information, please contact: christie@scautism.org or call 803-750-6988, ext. 117.
