From The President

Hello SCAS friend!

School is out, and we hope everyone is enjoying these first days of summer!  If you are still looking for autism-friendly summer programs across the state, be sure to check out the article further down in this newsletter.

Even though we're enjoying summer, it's a good time to look over your student's plans for the next school year.  Whether you are anticipating an educational evaluation, reviewing your IEP/504, dealing with behavior issues, or planning for transition, our Parent School Partnership staff members are here to help!  For details, see our Featured Service article in this newsletter.

Please contact us if you have questions, need assistance, or would like to get further involved.  Our main number is 803-750-6988, or visit our website at scautism.org.

Sincerely,

Kim Thomas, President & CEO
South Carolina Autism Society

Upstate Puberty & Sexuality Workshop

Upstate Puberty & Sexuality Workshop

July 22
Spartanburg, SC

The South Carolina Autism Society presents this new 2 hour training on puberty and sexuality.  To navigate puberty we are asked to quickly develop new social skills and implement them correctly. Parents will leave this training with the knowledge to start taking on all the various challenges that come along with puberty and transitioning into adulthood. We cover basic topics such as bodily changes, privacy, and personal hygiene. We will discuss more in depth topics such as consent, safe sex, sexuality and gender identity, intimacy, and healthy relationships. Most importantly, we will be giving the parents the tools they need to actually have “The Talk” with their individuals with ASD.

This Workshop is full, but we are accepting wait-list registrations.  If a space becomes available, you will be notified.

Click here to get your name on the wait-list now.
