The South Carolina Autism Society Hosts Midlands Respite Event for Families Caring for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Columbia, SC- July 30, 2014–The South Carolina Autism Society will host its Midlands Respite Event for families caring for children with special needs. The free event will take place on Saturday, August 16 from 2 to 5 pm at All Star Gymnastics located at 4046 Fernandina Road, Columbia, SC. Availability is limited to 75 children with autism spectrum disorder, and their siblings. Snacks will be provided. RSVP by Monday, August 11. “We are pleased to offer this three hours of respite for family members and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorders,” said Kim Thomas, president & CEO of South Carolina Autism Society. “Parents will have a chance to go shopping, see a movie, take a nap, run errands, or relax however they choose. Children will be engaged in arts and crafts, and other activities.”
