SC AUTISM SOCIETY HIRES FORMER NEWS ANCHOR AS THE FUNDRAISING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR

West Columbia, SC – December 7, 2017.  The South Carolina Autism Society wishes to tell the story of all the important programs and families in our organization.  To that end, we are proud to announce that we have hired retired award-winning journalist, Mary Sturgill as our Director of Fundraising and Public Relations.  Sturgill’s duties will include organizing all of SCAS fundraising events. She will also be responsible for writing grants for SCAS.  These duties ensure we continue to serve the families in South Carolina. Sturgill says, “It is extremely important that those on the Autism Spectrum get the services they need to aid them in being productive and prosperous members of society. The fundraising we do, ensures we can provide much needed programs. I hope to increase fundraising efforts so that we can reach more people of all ages with our programs and support.” In her public relations role, Sturgill will be the spokesperson for SCAS and the point person for all media contacts.  Sturgill says, “I am looking forward to helping make sure all the good work SCAS does is told in a creative, informative way so that we can raise awareness while educating the public in all that we do.” SCAS, CEO, Kim Thomas says, “The South Carolina Autism Society is honored to have Mary Sturgill join our team.  Our agency looks forward to seeing positive changes that will not only benefit our agency but the thousands of families that we serve with Ms. Sturgill’s addition.”

Hello SCAS staff and Mary Sturgill.
I am curious to know why I never read a mention regarding SCAS activities in Beaufort County, and the Hilton Head community in particular.
I live in Bluffton part time, soon to be full time and have stayed on the SCAS email list for years. I am curious as to why there is very little activity down in Beaufort County.
