Over 550 Families in Need Have Been Served Since 2008 Columbia, SC- October 15, 2014–Since 2008, The LUCAS Network and the SC Autism Society have partnered to provide a Thanksgiving dinner to families affected by autism who are going through financial difficulties. Saturday, August 16 from 2 to 5 pm Columbia, SC- July 30, 2014–The South Carolina Autism Society will host its Midlands Respite Event for families caring for children with special needs. The South Carolina Autism Society Unveils its Specialty License Plate

Columbia, SC- June 23, 2014–The South Carolina Autism Society announces its Autism Awareness specialty license plate is now available for purchase. The plate is available to all SC residents for a fee of $30 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee.

Today the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta released the latest autism prevalence rates. These statistics are based on 2010 data. Researchers reviewed both health and educational data for 8 year olds from 11 states across the country.

Kim Thomas has been named CEO and President of the South Carolina Autism Society. She assumes the role after having served as interim CEO for the past year. Thomas was selected from four final applicants, following a search that began in Fall 2013.
