Kim Thomas Named CEO

Kim Thomas has been named CEO and President of the South Carolina Autism Society. She assumes the role after having served as interim CEO for the past year.  Thomas was selected from four final applicants, following a search that began in Fall 2013.

“I’m very passionate about the people we serve and feel blessed to be given this opportunity to serve as the CEO of SCAS,” she said following her selection.  She joined SCAS in 2007, serving first as director of service coordination and later vice president.

“Kim has proven herself to be an able leader during the past year,” Board Chair Susan Kastner said, following the Board’s discussion and vote. “She is very familiar with our organization’s strengths, needs, and values, and has many ideas about how we can continue to better serve all families in South Carolina affected by autism spectrum disorders.

SCAS is the premier statewide agency advocating for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and their families, while also providing assistance and resources.

Autism Spectrum Disorders are a developmental disability and neurological disorder that affects functioning of the brain and interfere with reasoning, social interaction and communication skills.
