News and Happenings

March 2017

From The President

Hello SCAS friend!

We are less than 2 weeks away from our big Strides for Autism events in the Upstate and Midlands, and we've got lots of exciting activities planned!  Both will be held on the same day this year -- Saturday, April 1.  That's right!  2 parks, 2 walks, 1 great day!

Join us for one of these fun and informative events!  Opportunities are available for you to Register and Start a Team, Donate, or become a Vendor or Sponsor!  Check out the article below for details.

Also in April we are partnering to bring the Wings for All airport rehearsal program to GSP Airport in the Upstate.  We've seen what a great experience our families had attending this program at the airports in Columbia and Myrtle Beach!  We hope this will enable more autism families to be able to make lifelong memories!

In other news, Federal Officials recently released the proposed American Health Care Act (AHCA).  The AHCA will cut an estimated $800 billion from Medicaid over the next 10 years. The South Carolina Autism Society shares the concerns of our fellow advocates as to how these cuts will affect people with disabilities.  Please see the article below to find out how you can help.

Please contact us if you have questions, need assistance, or would like to get further involved.  Our main number is 803-750-6988, or visit our website at scautism.org.

Sincerely,

Kim Thomas, President & CEO
South Carolina Autism Society

Strides for Autism is the South Carolina Autism Society's signature fund-raising and awareness walk. Monies raised for South Carolina Autism Society stay in South Carolina and go towards individual and family supports, education, advocacy, and training. According to the South Carolina Secretary of State, the South Carolina Autism Society devoted nearly 90% of its total expenses to program services.

We are excited to be less than 2 weeks away from these great events in the Upstate and Midlands!  Register now, create a Team, and plan to join us!  Click below for details and registration!
