News and Happenings

August 2015

---

Hello SCAS supporter!

Below is the latest edition of our monthly newsletter.

From The President

We told you last month that our staff was busy starting to plan our events for the fall and spring. I'm excited to let you know about some of the great things we have planned!

First of all, mark your calendars for our annual Autism Awareness Month activities scheduled for next April!

• Upstate Strides for Autism -- April 16

• Midlands Strides for Autism -- April 23

• Annual Conference -- April 29

We are finalizing our locations and presenters now, and will have additional information available soon!

On September 17th, we will be participating in the Autism Society of America's "Big Give for Autism".  This is a nationwide fundraising event where your donations will stay local!

We are continuing to partner with other local organizations to provide information and services to SC autism families.  Since 2008, we have partnered with the LUCAS Network for our Thanksgiving Turkey Drive to help provide holiday assistance to autism families in need.

Finally, we are partnering with the LUCAS Network, Project Hope Foundation and BMW to bring back the Upstate Autism Forum!

Check out the stories below for more details on these fall events!

As always, please contact us if you have questions, need assistance, or would like to get further involved.  Our main number is 803-750-6988, or visit our website at scautism.org.

Sincerely,

Kim Thomas, President & CEO

Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

Since 2008, The South Carolina Autism Society and the LUCAS Network have partnered to provide a Thanksgiving dinner to families affected by autism who are going through financial difficulties. Thanks to the community’s donations, over 650 families in need have been served since 2008. Your donations supported over 100 families in 2014 alone! The need continues to grow.

For 2015, the two organizations will be collecting donations and distributing grocery store gift cards to recipients. To make a donation, click here.  You can pay via PayPal, or send a check upon completion. Your donation is tax deductible.

We will begin accepting nominations for recipients in October. Please stay tuned for additional information.
